# Card Insight

The Card Insight team represents some of the finest technology, operational, and analytical minds in the direct response industry with a long-term track record of individual campaign excellence.

Card Insight works with credit card transactions only.  It does not work with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or any other payment method.

#### Plugin Activation <a href="#shipengine-pluginactivation" id="shipengine-pluginactivation"></a>

* Navigate to Admin → Plugins → Data Sources
* Click on the **Card Insight** tile
* Click the <mark style="color:green;">**+Activate**</mark> button

#### ATRI Setup <a href="#shipengine-ratingrequests" id="shipengine-ratingrequests"></a>

* Navigate to ATRI
* Edit any Gateway Profile
* Check the **Use Card Insight** box in the top right
* Enter First and Second Attempt URLs.  These are obtained from Card Insight.  These must be full URLs starting with https.
* Save

#### Checkout Workflow <a href="#shipengine-ratingrequests" id="shipengine-ratingrequests"></a>

* The ATRI profile is applied to campaign products using standard functionality
* At the time of sale, First Attempt URL is called to fetch the Card Insight recommended gateways.
* If Card Insight returns recommendations, those gateways are used for the transaction.  If the first gateway declines then the sale cascades to the next gateway returned on the First Attempt URL.  This continues until no gateways remain.  The Card Insight gateways override all ATRI gateways (both profile and cascade).
* If Card Insight does not return recommendations, then Card Insight is skipped and standard ATRI workflows are followed.
* If all gateways returned on the First Attempt decline and the shopper makes a second attempt to checkout, then the Second Attempt URL is used.  The same workflow as First Attempt is followed.
* If all gateways returned on the Second Attempt decline and the shopper makes a third attempt to checkout, then Card Insight is skipped and standard ATRI workflows are followed.

#### Logs <a href="#shipengine-ratingrequests" id="shipengine-ratingrequests"></a>

The Card Insight ID used on each attempt is saved on the transaction.  Use Actions > Show Note on the transaction details table to view.  It is also returned on the [Query Transactions API](https://apidocs.checkoutchamp.com/#5b4dcaa6-33ea-4ca1-84d3-2556d1773a03) when the **includeCustomFields** parameter is used.

* Card Insight is available for new sales only.  It is not available for rebills (Recycle Billing).
