Step 2: Add PAAY to a funnel

Edit the funnel on which to enable PAAY. Go to Settings > Add Ons > PAAY 3DS

Step 3: Configuration

API Key (3DS) - Enter the key obtained in Step 1

Page Option - Choose to authenticate Offers, Upsells, or both Offers and Upsells

Minimum Amount - Optional. Set the minimum amount on which to authenticate with PAAY. This is entered in the campaign currency. Any orders below this amount will be skipped.

Show Challenges - Choose No Challenge, Challenge if Required, or Force Challenge. If Force Challenge is chosen then there is also an option to enter a minimum amount to force the challenge. Orders below the minimum amount will present a challenge only if required by the issuing bank.

Merchant Name - Optional. Enter a value to be passed on authentication. Discuss this with PAAY as it may require enablement on your PAAY account.

Requestor Name - Optional. Enter a value to be passed on authentication. Discuss this with PAAY as it may require enablement on your PAAY account.

Data Share BINs - Optional. Enter one or more card bins on which to authenticate with Data Only, separated by commas. To use Data Only on an entire card brand, enter "visa" or "mastercard" (without the quotes). Here is an example: 555555,520082,visa. Data Only is priced the same as 3DS authentication. Data Only can be differentiated from 3DS on CRM reporting filters.

Data Only

"Data Only" is the term used to describe a transaction flow in which a merchant shares only the data of a transaction with the Issuer through the 3DS rail, without presenting a challenge to the cardholder. This can be influenced by the level of challenges requested by an Issuer and has the following characteristics:

  • Always frictionless. The Issuer cannot enforce a challenge for the cardholder in a Data Only transaction.

  • There is no liability shift, meaning the merchant remains responsible for potential fraud in this case, not the issuer.

  • Depending on the risk of the transaction (e.g., isolated lower-value transactions) or for issuers with a low level of frictionless or technical issues in the authentication process, higher approval rates can be achieved. More information aids in decision-making.
